WDA MEMBERS INFORMATION 2021

>Due to not been able to hold a meeting to discuss finance and some suggestions I have for the West Durham amalgation going forward.
In October Alan Brown put a statement on the website stating he was standing down as President I'm not sure if all the members realise how much time and effort that Alan had put into the wda and done a great job helping and assisting Brian where ever possible.I received phone called from Brian Ford who was saddened to hear that Alan was standing down and said he also felt like packing in we had a good discussion about the wda and Brian said would I consider putting up for the President job I said if you stay in as Secretary il put up for it not realising I was the only candidate.once the proposals went in and was seconded I needed to know information regarding the wda.A meeting was a arranged at cockerton club with myself Alan and Brian to go through what was required Alan explained how things had been run and couldn't have been any more helpful which was very much appreciated. The insurance policies of building and fleet were discussed as they were due for renewal in the early January a meeting was arranged for Chris wheatly of RSA insurance to have a face to face meeting travelling from the Midlands due to covid restrictions this was not possible Alan arranged a zoom meeting Alan,Brian and myself which went well in 2020 the buildings insurance doubles from the previous year at a cost of £7000 due to the buildings being under insured and insurer's requiring a structural report carried out at a cost of £800 the structural report was done and came back with a good report on the building out lining some remedial work to be carried out which was to remove a chimney stack and cap off, repair and replace loose slates, installed down comers rain water pipes and refix brackets back to wall since the structural report had been done the new quote for 2021 buildings and contents was £5,575 I asked the question once the remedial work had been carried out what would the saving be Chris quoted approximately £2,000/£2,500 Alan had received a quote to carry work out between £1100,/£1,200 I said I would sort it a scaffolding was erected at a cost of £400 to which myself and friend of mine removed chimney capped it off and repaired slates .materialise rain water pipes repairs came to £100 which I fixed on my own photographs of work been carried our were sent to Chris to confirm work he been done in telephone conversation he confirmed that just over £2,000 would be paid back into wda account bringing insurance down to approx £3,500 so the structural report had been well worth it.
Fleet Insurance policy renewal was £6,671.00 it was confirmed that our drivers were all over the age of 30 so this reduced £200 off. as it had been proposed to possibly part with the old S reg or replace with smaller type vehicle it was not added to the policy(can be added) at cost of £1,500 fleet insurance policy at present was £4,770.
There is a old trailer unit at the yard which is on stilts leaning towards the road with scrap metal inside also various bits of scrap i got some one I know to come and have a look to get it removed .He gave us a£100 and will be removed very shortly the hundred pound was used to purchase the rain water pipes materials.
