It is with great sadness that I must inform the fancy that Alan passed away earlier today. Alan had tenanciously battled a number of health problems in recent years. A popular character Alan always remained cheerful and loved racing his birds from the start of the season to the end. He had successfully raced in Chopwell HS for many years and will be sadly missed by all the members.
On behalf of our members I offer our sincere condolences to Alan's family.

Re the proposal by some feds for centre pick ups on all races. Hexham is the pick up point for 2 clubs, Haltwhistle & Tynedale. Haltwhistle members have a round trip to Hexham of 32 miles on normal inland racing. They pay the same WDA fees and basket charges as everyone else. Our centre marking pick up is Prudhoe which is a 26 mile round trip from Hexham. At a time when membership numbers are falling we should not be asking current members to make 58 mile round trips just to get their pigeons away.
