Re the proposal by some feds for centre pick ups on all races. Hexham is the pick up point for 2 clubs, Haltwhistle & Tynedale. Haltwhistle members have a round trip to Hexham of 32 miles on normal inland racing. They pay the same WDA fees and basket charges as everyone else. Our centre marking pick up is Prudhoe which is a 26 mile round trip from Hexham. At a time when membership numbers are falling we should not be asking current members to make 58 mile round trips just to get their pigeons away. It is suggested that this is a cost saving proposal but the WDA currently has over £77,000 in bank accounts plus cash assets, club pick ups should be retained but a cheaper option should be found as was proposed last year.
