Update from the NEHU

ROYE Queens cup - entry 1,050 Birds.

With such a low turn out of entries for this weekend's race we will need to have a rethink for the rest of the channel programme due to the financial costs involved.
230 members signed up for channel racing and paid the £15 Levy.
All reserves which members entered for the ARRAS and ROYE race after their guaranteed number allocated have been basketed for the races.

Costing for channel races are as follows:
230 lofts @ £15 Levy fee to cover Vets and shipping agent is £3,450
Costing for official vet each race is £500
Costing for shipping agent each race is £420
Therefore the Vet/Shipping Agents costing is £920 per race, the levy fee money can only guarantee 4 races.

Costing for transportation to each race from UNC is £5,500 per race.

ARRAS 1 saw an entry of 1,530 Birds @£4.25 per bird which gave a surplus to NEHU of
Just over £1,000 at which £225 was paid out in prize money leaving £775 which was planned to be used towards subsidising the Vet and Shipping Agents fee for the 5th race.
Due to the low entry for the ROYE Queens Cup race, part of these funds will be used to subside the entry fee, but the price will have to rise to £5.00 per bird.

AUXERE race which is scheduled for 24 th June.

Discussions with Ken Perry had already taken place due to Ken having a smaller transporter to keep costs down to minimum for alternative transportation.
For this race to go ahead with the financial costs incurred all bird numbers must be in to the NEHU office by Wednesday 14th June as the race has to be self supporting. We estimate a minimum of 500 birds would have to entered with indicative entry fees in the region of £5/£6 per bird, but not set in stone. (transport has yet to be finalised).

Further ARRAS or ROYE race as you can see from costing above with entries as low will result in higher entry fees to cover all costs.

Many of the 230 lofts who all signed up with vets visit for some reason or other have not yet supported the races from France. After all the hard work and effort to enable channel racing to go ahead for members of the UNC, WDA,DC & NNA it is disappointing and doesn't bode well for the future outcome of racing from France unless members support these races.
