5,00 pm Tuesday ,Alan Brown rang me Martin Wade and Stephen Meadows vote was 3 to 0 for birds to go wed for Friday race,

Wed 5 pm ,arrived at yard left to pick up Newcastle ,Annfield Plain and Sacriston Feds ,,back to yard ,all baskets transferred on to 1 wagon collected Darlington on way

Thurs. at Dover for 6,15 ,put water on baskets for a short while ,when we were in docks.,arrived on site at 11,30 am ,birds watered and opened up ,Durham Combine already on site.

Fri 5.00 am cloudless skies In France but a band of rain spreading from Portsmouth moving up through London ,delayed decision until 9.30

7,30 am Kent area thundery showers ,London dull with light rain as far as Peterborough
Clearing in Newbury and Crawley areas with sunny intervals

8.15 am rang contacts London area clearing well ,Dover coast guard reporting no rain and good visibility on channel,good at Ashford , Peterborough clearing and getting reports of rain band breaking up
8,45 am rang contacts again good visibility with breaking skies
09.15 birds liberated in South wind along with New North Amal and Durham Combine
9,50 left site arrived at Calais for 12,15 ,no clouds in France ,visibility about 15 mile on channel ,bit of haze on channel ,back in England at 4,00 ,good skies all way back to North east
