Update from WDA President
3 Avian Influenza cases around Stanhope.
Yesterday April 29th the last 2 of the 3KM Controlled Zones were revoked and replaced with 3KM Protection Zones.
These will remain in place until DEFRA have completed all necessary tests, once complete and subject to no more cases occurring within those 10KM Surveillance Zones each 3KM Protection Zone will be merged into the relevant 10KM Surveillance Zone.
After the merged 10KM Surveillance Zone has been in place for a number of days with no further problems then the final restrictions will be lifted around Stanhope.
Our best guess - subject to no more cases occurring in the Stanhope area is middle of May for this to take place.
Those within the 10KM Surveillance Zones around Stanhope are still unable to train either as individuals, in groups or race.
I remain in regular contact with DEFRA and as soon as I receive notification of merging of the Control Zones into Surveillance Zones, followed later by the lifting of the Surveillance Zones the Officials of Crook Fed will be the first to be notified.
All updates will be posted on the official Facebook page and the WDA website.
